Practices And Values Of Christianity
Art By Akiane
There are basic things that has been gifted to the church, even to this modern age. These things makes the way of fellowship defer from the Pentecostals and the Protestants; even to the Apostolics (though there may be similarities in their practices). These practices in turn becomes doctrinal values of churches, bringing about denominations.
Some of the values of some denominations (similarities) are:
Evangelism. It's the mandate, responsibility and necessity of every Christian to reach out with the gospels to unbelievers. From the 'mere shepherds' to petty traders, to students, managers of institutions etc, every individual, no matter how great or small needs Christ Jesus.
Discipleship. Every born-again Christ centered believer ought to be discipled to disciple others. This helps in building an army for the Kingdom of God.
Ministerial practices such as prayer (praying with your native tongue as well as in Spirit); effective ministry of the Holy Spirit (operating with the Spirit of God to bear fruits); and leadership experience and mentoring.
Freewill Offerings. This is an aspect which ought to be undertaken by every Christian. This mostly, as with every value, is to be done under the inspiration and leadings of the Holy Spirit.
Tithes and Offerings. The body of Christ around several locations in the world have inculcated the habit of tithing and giving offerings. It's one of the practices essential to be done by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit as stated previously.
Congregational worship. Like Jesus said, "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24.
Giving diligence and respect to authority. Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. Romans 13:1-2
All these are extracts from the Scriptures. It's up to us to be the doer(s) of the Word of God. God bless you.
